Initial Consultation
I offer a free 15-minute phone call to help you get to know me and my approach. During this call, I'll provide a brief introduction to my services, answer any questions you might have, and discuss the next steps. If you decide to proceed, I'll email you a contract and client information form to review before our first session.
First Session
Our first session together is an opportunity for us to get to know each other better and lay the groundwork for our therapeutic relationship. During the first session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking counselling and what you hope to achieve. I'll conduct a brief assessment to understand your current situation and needs and we'll explore your personal history to provide context for your present circumstances. I'll also ask about any relevant medical conditions or medications, without judgement, to ensure I can support you effectively.
This session is about creating a safe, comfortable space for you to share and begin your journey towards positive change.
My Approach
My counselling approach is person-centred and integrative, which means I tailor my methods to suit your individual needs. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including Behavioural, CBT, Gestalt, Humanistic, Interpersonal, Psychodynamic, Relational, and Transactional analysis.
What does this mean for you? It means that our work together will be flexible and adaptive. We'll focus on what works best for you, using techniques that resonate with your experiences and goals. My integrative approach allows us to address your concerns from multiple perspectives, providing a comprehensive and personalised path to healing and growth.
Relationships can face many challenges, from communication breakdowns to trust issues, intimacy concerns, or navigating major life changes. Couples counselling provides a safe, neutral space to address these issues and work towards a stronger, healthier relationship.
In our sessions, we'll focus on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and rebuilding connection. I'll help you and your partner express your needs, understand each other better, and develop strategies to overcome obstacles together. Whether you're looking to strengthen your bond or navigate a specific challenge, couples counselling can provide the tools and support you need to move forward positively.
Growing up can be challenging, and sometimes children and young people need extra support to navigate their emotions and experiences. I offer specialised counselling services for children and young people (aged 5+) to help them address a wide range of issues, including:
My approach is tailored to each child's age, developmental stage, and individual needs. I use a variety of techniques, including play therapy, art therapy, and talking therapy, to help young clients express themselves and develop coping skills.
For parents, I understand the importance of being involved in your child's progress. While maintaining your child's confidentiality and trust, I'll keep you informed about the general direction of our work and provide guidance on how you can support your child's growth outside of our sessions.
Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether you're an individual, a couple, or a young person, I'm here to support you on your journey towards better mental health and wellbeing.
